2007 AEA Pelican Bulk Fuel Project Upgrade

The purpose of this project was to upgrade the existing fuel storage and handling facilities in the community of Pelican. The tank farm will provide bulk storage for virtually all of the diesel fuel and gasoline imported into the community, and almost all fuel facilities are to be operated by Pelican Seafoods. Work included preparation of a pad area and setting three 20,000-gallon and one 12,000-gallon bulk fuel storage tanks.

Site preparation began in June, with clearing, grubbing, leveling, and laying out a gravel pad for the tanks.
A barge arrived with the four new bulk fuel storage tanks. The tanks were set on the pad and piping connected.
Work on welding the fuel piping continues, and is expected to be completed in October 2007.

2007 Tanana Water & Sewer Project

The scope of work for the 2007 Tanana Water & Sewer Project includes: construction of water & sewer main extensions and connecting water mains on 2nd & 3rd Streets; providing water and sewer service lines to 16 homes and performing interior plumbing in those homes; and connecting the backup Mill Street well to the water system.

Site work began in June when CE2's Site Superintendent Mike West travelled to Tanana to conduct crew interviews begin preparing the locally available equipment for use over the summer construction season.

Two local residents applied for and were selected to attend HDPE butt fusion training. Both received their certificates, and are employed by the project.

The Nome Utilidor Replacement Project conducted in Nome, Alaska, included construction management and force account construction of over 139,900 lineal feet (lf) of buried high density polyethylene (HDPE) pipe. Pipe Foreman Jeff Juelson supervised the local force account crew during buried pipe installations from 2001 through 2006.
